The Growth Engine is a new entity authorized to prioritize, orchestrate, ideate, and develop early stage ventures across the OCP and UM6P ecosystems.
The Growth Engine will establish a structured, repeatable approach to venture building, ensuring better coordination and a faster path to successful startups that drive meaningful impact for the ecosystem.
The main focus of the Growth Engine will be away from the core business and on technologies and markets that are still in early stages of development.
Ventures are expected to span both deep tech and digital tech.
The Growth Engine will conduct and orchestrate a focused set of activities to achieve its goals:
Sourcing Ideas & Talent
Sourcing and evaluating high potential ideas, entrepreneurs and founding teams internally & externally through targeted Venture Challenges, Domain Explorations, and other initiatives.
Building Ventures
Developing early stage “venturable” business ideas to spin-out or launch through the new Venture Builder studio for incubating startups.
Scaling Globally
Equipping Moroccan ventures to succeed and grow in global markets through new Global Launchpads and other partnership initiatives.
Developing Talent
Developing both venture founders and internal ecosystem stakeholders through specialized training on venture building and VC and startup mindsets.
Supporting Innovation
Providing capabilities as a service to other entities and teams who require support in developing product, service or businesses ideas.
The Growth Engine will focus specifically on ventureable ideas which meet these criteria
Aligned with the OCP or UM6P impact framing goals (driving climate and sustainability value-added revenue and improving UM6P’s strategic impact index)
Target a large ($2.5B+) and growing global market
Capable of producing venture style returns
Capable of becoming standalone businesses that can spin-in or spin-out
Represent new venture building spaces for the ecosystem
As part of identifying potential candidates for venture-building, the Growth Engine will source and evaluate ideas and founders through a variety of methods, and will participate in an evaluation process to categorize opportunities as Build, Buy, Partner or Invest.
